About This Role:As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering software for innovative medical device products. You’ll lead technical initiatives from concept through manufacturing, shaping system architecture and ensuring high-quality execution across the lifecycle.You’ll work on a diverse set of technologies, from highly efficient, low-power embedded systems running lightweight RTOSs to sophisticated, multi-subsystem platforms powered by embedded Linux. These systems often feature modern, intuitive user interfaces built with tools like QT. You’ll collaborate closely with our UX team to bring these experiences to life.You’ll also mentor team members, influence engineering best practices, and help build scalable, reliable solutions that make a real difference in healthcare. What You Will Do: Lead software design and development activities across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and deploymentDesign and develop software applications for medical devices used in lab, hospital, and remote environmentsDevelop secure, cloud-connected applications in compliance with HIPAA and IEC 62304 standardsIntegrate software with hardware platforms and troubleshoot hardware/firmware interfacesLead development of control algorithms and real-time, interrupt-driven communication systemsTranslate user needs and system specifications into detailed software requirementsDesign and oversee execution of unit, integration, and automated acceptance testing plansProduce and maintain documentation aligned with FDA software design control requirementsProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teamsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support testing, validation, and system integration effortsDrive problem-solving for complex technical challenges and contribute to system architecture decisions QualificationsRequired: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field3–6+ years of relevant software engineering experienceStrong knowledge of software design principles, system architecture, and development best practicesExperience with regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IEC 62304, or similar)Experience developing cloud-connected and/or embedded systems applicationsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to lead or mentor engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teamsAbility to work effectively in a hybrid environment based in Providence, RI Preferred: Experience in MedTech or regulated healthcare environmentsFamiliarity with real-time systems, embedded development, or hardware/software integrationExperience with secure software development and data privacy frameworks (e.g., HIPAA)Prior experience leading small teams or technical initiativesAdvanced degree in a related field
