Job Title: Cloud Platform Engineer
Reports to: Director, Software Engineering

About Our Organization: RIS Rx (pronounced “RISE”) is a healthcare technology organization with a strong imprint in the patient access and affordability space. RIS Rx has quickly become an industry leader in delivering impactful solutions to stakeholders across the healthcare continuum. RIS Rx is proud to offer an immersive service portfolio to help address common access barriers. We don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to our service offerings. Our philosophy is to bring forward innovation, value and service to everything that we do. This approach has allowed us to have the opportunity to serve countless patients to help produce better treatment outcomes and an overall improved quality of life. Here at RIS Rx, we invite our partners and colleagues to “Rise Up” with us to bring accessible healthcare and solutions for all.
Job Summary: RIS Rx is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to own the AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, reliability, and security behind the platforms that identify and mitigate gross-to-net (GTN) revenue leakage for pharmaceutical manufacturers. You will blend platform engineering, reliability, and security while building the foundations and self-service tooling that let application teams focus on features, while keeping our regulated healthcare data protected.
Responsibilities:
- Build base frameworks and cloud infrastructure for application teams, including reusable CI/CD pipeline modules that developers build on top of.
- Provision and operate AWS services for the organization such as compute (Lambda), messaging (SQS), storage (S3), email (SES), data tooling (Glue), and databases (PostgreSQL/RDS) and manage promotion from sandbox to production.
- Design and implement IAM approaches with cross-account authorization, least-privilege, and permission boundaries principles to reduce privilege-escalation risk.
- Own DNS and networking, and drive shared standards such as API URL and DNS structure, including planning and documenting migrations.
- Define and operate monitoring, alerting, and backups across compute, queues, load balancers, and databases (error rates, queue age, CPU, response times, storage, and I/O), and strengthen disaster recovery.
- Build governance guardrails for emerging needs, such as centralized, logged, and policy-constrained AI and model access.
- Harden the platform for regulated data with encryption, network isolation, audit logging, and HIPAA-aligned controls and support security and partner-compliance reviews.
- Partner with application teams on architecture and mentor engineers on cloud, reliability, and security practices.
Skills:
- 3+ years in cloud, platform, DevOps, or SRE engineering, with deep hands-on AWS experience.
- Strong with infrastructure-as-code and building CI/CD pipelines that other engineers can self-serve.
- Broad AWS depth across IAM, Lambda, SQS, S3, SES, Glue, RDS, DNS, and CloudWatch.
- Solid security grounding; cross-account access, least-privilege, permission boundaries, secrets, and encryption.
- Experience operating production systems: monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident response, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Automation and scripting in a language such as Python, Go, or Bash.
- Experience securing regulated data (HIPAA/PHI) preferred.
- Clear communicator who partners well with application engineers and documents what they build.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. AWS certifications a plus.
