Job Summary: RIS Rx is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the transformation and semantic layer that turns raw data in our Snowflake warehouse into trusted, documented, reusable models for analysts, dashboards, and downstream systems. You will sit between data engineering and the analysts who consume the data, applying software-engineering discipline to analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Design sound, well-documented data models for a subject area, managing grain, slowly-changing dimensions, and incremental logic.
- Own the metric definitions for your subject area as the single source of truth, and resolve conflicting definitions.
- Build reusable, modular transformations (dbt-style) with testing, CI/CD, and documentation built in.
- Own data quality, freshness, and lineage for your area’s models, and respond to data incidents.
- Turn ambiguous business questions into models, and enable analysts and self-serve reporting in your area.
- Model with compliance as a requirement by applying minimum-necessary, and masking or aggregating PHI appropriately.
- Partner with data engineering (who land the raw data) and analysts (who consume it), and improve team practices.
Skills:
- 5+ years in analytics engineering, data, or a closely related role.
- Strong SQL and transformation modeling with dbt or an equivalent.
- Experience designing dimensional or semantic models and stewarding metric definitions.
- Analytics testing and CI/CD, with clear documentation habits.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud warehouse).
- Experience with governed or regulated data (PHI, minimum-necessary) preferred.
- Strong communication to translate business questions into models and explaining them clearly.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
