Are you a visionary Principal Software Engineer ready to define and drive the technical strategy for an entire function, own complex, high-impact systems, and directly contribute to the future of intelligent manufacturing? As a Sr. Principal Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for the architecture, governance, and delivery of our enterprise-scale SaaS products, operating with Champion Pace. You will be a recognized internal subject matter expert, focusing on providing thought leadership across the organization.
The Mission: What You'll Be Building
You will be the core driver in the conceptualization, design, development, and implementation of new, highly complex models and procedures. You will provide strategic technical direction, mentor senior and principal team members, and leverage broad expertise in highly specialized fields to develop solutions in cloud-native architectures, microservices, and Agile product development. You will be instrumental in building the next generation of our platform
Technical authority for turning decades of Progress/MOPTE code into modern, production-grade Java.
Your Impact/ What you will be doing:
Set Java/Spring Boot architecture standards and define the methodology for translating Progress business logic
Be the final technical authority for architectural decisions in the App Migration squad
Technically Hands-On and build software, and not just design
Resolve high-level architectural disputes; provide technical recommendations to the Track Lead
Own code quality standards and conduct architecture reviews for major design decisions
Mentor engineers — grow the technical judgment of the engineers around you
Qualifications
10+ years in software engineering; recognized as a principal-level authority at a prior organization
Expert Java/Spring Boot engineer — you have designed large-scale Java applications and owned the consequences
Experience with legacy-to-modern application migration — you have moved business logic between platforms
You write production code. Your PRs get merged. You are not purely an architect.
Progress/OpenEdge language familiarity
QAD ERP business domain knowledge
Experience designing behavioral equivalence testing frameworks for migration validation
