Role Overview

This role is responsible for co-developing and executing enterprise clinical strategy in partnership with the CMO, driving clinical excellence, innovation, and measurable improvements in patient outcomes across the organization. The role translates evidence-based practices, outcomes research, and therapeutic best practices into scalable care models, supervision standards, and Measurement-Based Care (MBC) frameworks that can be consistently applied across the enterprise.

Success in this role is defined by sustained adoption of clinically governed standards, measurable improvement in clinical outcomes, reduction in unwarranted clinical variation, and the successful implementation of scalable, enterprise-wide clinical programs. This role serves clinicians, clinical operations, research, and executive leadership by ensuring clinical strategy is actionable, evidence-based, and operationalized effectively.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Clinical Innovation

  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise clinical excellence and innovation strategy in partnership with the CMO.
  • Translate clinical evidence, outcomes research, and therapeutic best practices into scalable care models, supervision standards, and clinical workflows.
  • Design and scale new care models and population health strategies, including pilot development, validation, and enterprise rollout.

Measurement-Based Care & Outcomes

  • Lead the enterprise Measurement-Based Care (MBC) strategy, including operating model, workflows, decision support, and governance.
  • Establish and drive adoption of clinical performance metrics, ensuring consistent use across practices and measurable outcome improvement.
  • Partner with research and clinical stakeholders to interpret outcomes data and translate insights into actionable improvements.

Research Partnership & Thought Leadership

  • Work closely with the Senior Leader of Research to design and execute internal outcomes and research.
  • Interpret results of organization-led research and translate into insights in internal quality improvement and external thought leadership (e.g., publications and presentations)

Operational Leadership & Implementation

  • Drive cross-functional implementation of clinical standards and programs in partnership with Clinical Operations, psychiatric leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish governance structures, decision rights, and performance monitoring mechanisms to ensure execution and accountability.
  • Reduce clinical variation by embedding standardized workflows and ensuring alignment with enterprise clinical strategy.

Standards, Supervision & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and maintain evidence-based clinical and supervision standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Translate standards into practical tools, playbooks, and training in partnership with Learning & Development.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging trends, population needs, and performance data to refine clinical strategy.

People & Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing clinical excellence teams, setting clear priorities, expectations, and accountability for outcomes.
  • Influence a broad network of clinical and operational leaders to align on strategy, standards, and execution.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure alignment with legal and regulatory requirements, partnering with Legal, Compliance, Quality, and clinical leadership.
  • Approve clinical standards, frameworks, and risk mitigation approaches, escalating high-risk decisions as appropriate.

Scope/Decision-Making/Impact

  • Operates with a high degree of autonomy in setting clinical standards, MBC frameworks, supervision models, and enterprise clinical priorities.
  • Makes independent decisions on clinical strategy design, implementation approaches, and program priorities; escalates decisions involving material risk, regulatory exposure, or enterprise-wide impact.
  • Owns enterprise-level clinical initiatives that impact all clinicians and patients, with direct influence on clinical outcomes, patient experience, and quality of care.
  • Impacts organizational performance by improving care delivery consistency, enabling scalable growth, and supporting long-term strategic goals.
  • Influences revenue indirectly by improving access, care quality, and clinical effectiveness.

Supervisory Duties

  • Directly manages 3 Senior Director-level roles.
  • Indirect oversight of 1 Data Scientist.
  • Leads broader cross-functional teams and external vendors (typically 1–3 at a time) in support of enterprise initiatives.

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology or related clinical science field.
  • 12+ years of functional experience in clinical strategy, clinical operations, or related healthcare environment.
  • 12+ years of industry experience within healthcare or behavioral health.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience, including leadership of senior-level teams.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience driving enterprise-level initiatives.
  • Strong research background, including experience partnering on outcomes research and translating findings into practice.
  • Deep expertise in Measurement-Based Care (MBC), including design, implementation, and scaling.
  • Strong experience translating evidence-based practice into scalable clinical models and supervision standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale change and drive adoption across complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Expertise in clinical governance, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Preferred Qualification & Skills

  • 15+ years of functional and industry experience.
  • 15+ years of supervisory experience with senior leaders.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide clinical transformation initiatives.
  • Strong background in outcomes research and data-driven clinical improvement.
  • Experience partnering closely with executive leadership (including CMO-level stakeholders) on strategy development and execution.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across clinical, operational, and research functions.
