Data Quality & Validation Internship

We are looking for driven and enthusiastic interns to join our team. The 6-month internship offers a unique chance to work in a fast-growing, mission-driven organization that paves the way for a more sustainable real asset sector, with many opportunities for personal development and career advancement.
This hands-on internship program provides the framework for a student to apply what has been learned from prior experiences and the classroom to make a value-added impact at GRESB. Through this internship, interns will gain real-world work experience and demonstrable accomplishments while acquiring a deep understanding of various sustainability-related standards and frameworks. The main responsibility of this internship consists in validation of sustainability-related data and reporting as well as supporting our team with data analysis, extraction, and outreach.
The ideal candidate will be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship. GRESB will provide all required training and software resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn how to perform in-depth technical reviews of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance documents for analysis and benchmarking
- Support the Data Quality & Validation team in verifying policies, reports, and data across multiple ESG categories against international sustainability standards, including developing familiarity with other sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, BREEAM, GRI, ISO, etc.).
- Data manipulation and basic statistical interpretation
- Learn how to work with confidential client information and supporting the team with client outreach
- Manage time across various tasks to meet deadlines
- Work collaboratively with other interns and employees
The candidates will ideally be able to perform the internship between April 15th and September 30th 2026, in Amsterdam.
Only applicants who are based in the Netherlands and already eligible to intern in the Netherlands will be considered. GRESB unfortunately cannot support visa applications for this role.
- A graduate student interested in a career in sustainability, studying sustainable business practices, environmental studies/sciences/engineering, chemical/biological sciences, policy writing, or a related field
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks efficiently and on time while working remotely
- An effective communicator- able to work with the GRESB team to evaluate project data against broad ESG benchmarks, scorecards, and best practices
- Competent in analyzing operational and environmental data for compliance, indicators, and trends
- Able to perform detail-oriented reviews of lengthy documents, providing clear, concise notes when needed
- Proficient with Google and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong at problem-solving, decision-making, time management, organization, and written and verbal communication skills
- Team-focused, demonstrates initiative, and has a positive, helpful attitude
- A quick learner, adaptive, and eager to tackle new situations
- Has a passion for sustainability and the underlying engineering, business, and policy impacts, roles, criteria, and technology
- Willing to jump in on any task that helps the team meet its objectives
- Must possess the right to intern in the EU (non-EU applicants must already have a Dutch working permit or student visa)
- Monthly competitive allowance of EUR 1200,-;
