nanoComposix, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis, develops innovative nanomaterials for research and commercial markets. We manufacture hundreds of different variants of metal and metal-oxide core/shell nanocomposites for a wide range of applications including biosensors, medical devices, clinical diagnostics, and optical effects. Our mission is to help our clients bring nano-enabled products to market. We are currently seeking a Research Associate I for a full-time, onsite position in San Diego, CA.
What You Will Do:
As a Research Associate in the Production and R&D Department, this role will be responsible for successfully fabricating high quality materials, executing IR&D experiments, and capturing all required data into the quality system. This role will also be responsible for performing synthesis and characterization work for catalog and custom products.
Job Duties:
- Performs and supports synthesis and characterization work for catalog or custom product or IR&D projects
- Contributes to select custom or IR&D synthesis projects
- Works under the direction of managers to complete tasks
- Provides timely updates to all stakeholders in assigned projects
- Meticulously document production into lab notebooks and forms associated with the NCX quality system
- Suggests improvements to existing documentation to make processes more efficient
- Independently finds solutions to problems by asking questions and reading relevant scientific literature
- Documents results to draw conclusions, identify successes and failures, and determine subsequent experiments as needed
- Prioritizes synthesis tasks to minimize back orders with manager input and communicates status of production to managers
Who You Are & What You Bring
Education / Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry preferred
- 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting
- Prior experience synthesizing nanoparticles is a plus

- Laboratory skills
- High-level problem solving, reasoning, and prioritization skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $28.00-$31.00
