Energy Aspects currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Geospatial Energy Market Analyst to join the Data Science team, based out of our Athens office.

Sitting between Data Scientists and market analysts, you will answer critical energy markets related questions using geospatial techniques, energy infrastructure knowledge, and our library of cutting-edge Earth Observation algorithms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate market questions into actionable plans: take high-level analytical objectives (e.g.: what is the impact of this refinery being damaged by a drone strike) and translate it into actionable steps (list of oil fields, pipelines, and ports to assess)
  • Leverage EA’s proprietary algorithms to derive answers from observations
  • Maintain and develop mappings of energy infrastructure relevant to EA’s core coverage areas, including oil, gas and LNG supply chains, loading/offloading terminals, storage facilities, and key transit routes
  • Collaborate with market analysts to understand the current news flow and identify where geospatial intelligence can add value

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Demonstrable knowledge of global oil and gas markets, including physical supply chains, infrastructure, and key trading dynamics
  • Proficiency in GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS, including spatial analysis, map production, and dataset management
  • Proficient with Python and relational databases
  • Comfortable working at pace in a market-reactive environment, reprioritising as events unfold
Desirable skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Experience working in or alongside a commodity research, trading, or energy intelligence environment
