Energy Aspects is seeking an experienced Japanese Power Analyst to join our global Power markets team, based in Tokyo or Singapore. We currently cover power markets in the US and Europe and are ready to expand our service to the Japanese markets. This is an amazing opportunity to lead the build-out of a new power market service to serve traders in the rapidly growing Japanese power markets.
The successful candidate will have experience analysing policy and regulatory changes, supply and demand fundamentals, fuel costs and inter-regional trade to forecast power market prices in the Japanese market. We expect this would require the candidate to have spent several years working in Japanese power markets.
You will have strong communication and inter-personal skills and enjoy building relationships with clients and counterparts across the energy industry.
You will write power market research for our clients in Japanese and English. You will be expected to produce compelling written research on developments in the Japanese electricity system and how these impact traded market prices. You will work closely with our LNG team, based in Singapore, to align our Japanese power views with their impact on LNG prices.
You will work with our global modelling and data team, based in London and Kolkata, to develop models that help you develop your analysis. You will have strong abilities in excel but a knowledge of Python modelling will also be helpful.
Our clients value our forecasts and market views and our analytical work is focused on creating forward looking views backed by the data. Ideally, you will have experience in forecasting, timeseries analysis, statistics and energy economics.
This position will require flexibility and the drive to go beyond the core hours when needed, ensuring we all fulfil our goals. All team members are encouraged to build their professional reputation within the industry. You must be able to work independently, as well as be capable of planning and prioritising to achieve success. In exchange, we offer excellent remuneration, a high-performance culture and challenging and exciting work. This role will be hybrid with the option to work flexibly from home one day per week.
Our team has a deep intellectual curiosity for the energy transition, its impact on markets and pricing, and the policy changes that are driving it. To be part of this team you will need to demonstrate this too.
The ability to write and present in Japanese and English is essential.
