Education Liaison
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Job Schedule: 8:30am - 4:30pm, M-F
Job Location: In-Person, Willow Park, TX
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Summary:
The Education Liaison serves as a vital link between our behavioral health facility and local schools, facilitating communication and collaboration regarding student attendance, treatment length, and academic progress. This role also provides essential support to students within our facility, assisting with online school programs and leading therapeutic activity groups. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for supporting adolescents and a strong understanding of the educational landscape. This role will also be available to assist Site Director with facility as needed.
Essential Functions:
1. Act as the primary point of contact between our facility and schools regarding student attendance, treatment progress, and discharge planning related to academic needs. This includes regular communication with site employees overseeing adolescent treatment and school personnel, such as counselors, teachers, and administrators.
2. Monitor student attendance and collaborate with site therapists and school staff to address attendance concerns. Communicate attendance information to the treatment team to ensure a coordinated approach.
3. Work closely with the treatment team and school personnel to facilitate a smooth transition back to school upon discharge, including coordinating the exchange of necessary academic and treatment information.
4. Provide direct support to students in accessing and navigating their online school programs. This may include troubleshooting technical issues, assisting in completion of assignments, assisting with time management, and advocating for student needs with online instructors.
5. Lead engaging assigned programming for adolescents, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
6. Maintain effective communication with the treatment team, school personnel, and families regarding student progress and needs. Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute valuable insights regarding educational considerations.
7. Assist students and families in accessing community resources related to education, mental health, and other support services.
8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all interactions with schools, students, and families, including attendance records, progress notes, and communication logs.
9. Stay current on best practices in education, adolescent development, and behavioral health through professional development activities such as reviewing relevant literature.
10. Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, as well as relevant state and federal regulations regarding student confidentiality and privacy (e.g., FERPA).
11. Other duties as assigned by manager such as assisting checking patients into the facility, answering facility phone calls, or helping coworkers with tasks (not all inclusive list).

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or therapeutic setting.
- Knowledge of online learning platforms and strategies preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with coworker, students and families.
- Experience leading group activities.
- Knowledge of education regulations and procedures a plus.
- Work is performed on-site, Monday-Friday. Hours to be determined by manager.
- Work is performed in a behavioral health facility setting.
- Occasional irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; teaching environment in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
