Job Description

In Macom’s MMIC Business Unit, we design MMICs for cellular, aerospace and defense, and other wireless applications. We are looking for an experienced SOI microwave/RF design engineer. You will:

  • Be responsible for the design, layout, test, and release of SOI MMIC control products for microwave and millimeterwave applications. MMIC products include attenuators, phase shifters, and switches. 
  • Design both RF and digital circuit portions of the control products.
  • Be responsible for all design activities related product development activities from kickoff through engineering evaluation. 
  • Work with our package and assembly teams to develop new and cost-effective packaging and assembly methods.
  • Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. You will design evaluation boards and characterization fixtures, then direct or perform measurements. Evaluation data is processed and presented against the product development goals.
  • Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer the product to production.

  • Degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Electrical Engineering. 
  • More than 5 years of experience in microwave design of SOI control MMICs.
  • Experience designing attenuators, phase shifters, or switches.
  • Familiar with digital design and MMIC integration.
  •  Skilled with Cadence and ADS design simulation tools.
  • Experience with EM simulations. Understand best practices to set up most accurate EM simulations.
  • Experience designing for high yield and low cost.
  • Operation and calibration of a s-parameter, and nonlinear measurements using industry standard test equipment (spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, power meter, etc.).
  • Experience with the design of microwave evaluation boards including both electrical and thermal aspects.
  • Device modeling experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drawing packages is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lasting partnerships.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office products.
