Lead Revenue Accountant at Ability Network

Overview

The Lead Revenue Accountant will report directly to the Director of Accounting and will be responsible for the general ledger accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and analysis of revenue and related accounts, including sales allowance, deferred revenue, deferred costs, accounts receivable, and allowance for doubtful accounts. Works closely with billing, accounts receivable, FP&A, and sales operations to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards.
Responsibilities

Plan and supervise the month end close activities for revenue and related accounts
Maintain compliance with internal controls
Support the external audit process, including preparing audit schedules and work papers as needed
Improve accounting procedures by analyzing current processes and recommend/implement changes
Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations associated with revenue and related accounts
Keep desk procedures and electronic audit evidence documentation updated as processes change
Interpret customer contracts for proper revenue recognition, some of which may be highly complex
Develop and maintain customer revenue bridges and analytics
Develop and maintain AR reserving model and lead the monthly review meeting
Track pre- and post-acquisition revenue and AR
Analyze and report key revenue metrics and results
Work with Billing, Accounts Receivable, Sales, and Customer Operations to proactively manage revenue recognition issues
Prepare revenue related financial schedules and financial statement disclosures
Participate in the transition to the New Revenue Standard ASC 606
Assist with establishing and maintaining accounting control procedures
Assist with the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures and financial reporting requirements
Assist with preparation of financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Other accounting duties as requested and/or determined
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensure in active status preferred
7+ years’ experience in accounting, including extensive financial reporting, general ledger analysis and reconciliations in a corporate accounting environment
5+ years of experience in revenue accounting, preferable in a software/SaaS environment
2+ years of public accounting experience in audit for public companies
Merger and acquisition experience greatly preferred
Familiarity with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) a plus
Experience with data mining and analytical software a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of Great Plains and Sales Force CRM a plus
Comfortable interacting with a variety of skill levels with a demonstrated ability to lead through influence
Strong analytical and organization skills. Must possess an inquisitive mind, have the ability to work independently and proactively, and be a quick learner with good technical and business acumen
Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with top level management
Proven ability to build key working relationships across diverse internal and external organizations
Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to multitask
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure & meet deadlines
