Job Description

Leads the evaluation of optical, electrical and mechanical characteristics of systems and/or integrated circuits, components, and sub-components to verify failures and isolate to the root cause. Analyses failure reports and recommends corrective action with a cross-functional team. Develops methods, processes, procedures, tools and systems that will improve the accuracy, speed and efficiency of failure analysis processes and reduce failures.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical oversight, review and support of FA processes both within Acacia and with business partners such as contract manufacturers and FA service providers
  • Resolve FA escalations in a timely manner with feedback and corrective actions to minimize future escalations
  • Develop and implement methodologies, processes, procedures, tools and systems that will improve the overall accuracy, speed and efficiency of failure analysis processes
  • Negotiate with Operations and Design Engineering teams to harness knowledge and resources and apply effectively apply to successfully complete FA projects, activities and requirements
  • Review and approve FA reports to confirm technical accuracy around the consistent confirmation and analysis of customer failures in a timely and complete manner 
  • Employ data and metrics to measure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of failure analysis systems
  • Conduct field failure trend analysis and help develop effective corrective actions to reduce return rates
  • Enhance the overall throughput and quality of FA reporting to provide the highest class of customer experience

     

    Key Experience and Skills:

  • Good understanding of coherent transceiver products, electronic and RF circuits, optical/RF components and optical transmission test methodologies and key parameters
  • Familiar with application of coherent transceivers in optical networks
  • Excellent FA techniques at sub-systems, components and device levels
  • Comprehensive documentation and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment, take ownership of issues, initiate action plans, and make effective decisions to obtain effective results.
  • Experience co-managing resources at Contact Manufacturers globally
  • Experience conducting experiments and analysis of data to provide summaries as trends and distributions
  • Python Scripting skills to automate test cases to propagate out customer failures  and  capture  product data
  • Instrumentation skills with oscilloscopes, pattern generator/error detector, electrical and optical spectrum analyzers

     

     

     

    Minimum Education and Considerations:

  • BS with 5 years’ experience in failure analysis or sustaining engineering functions for high bit rate coherent optical transceivers, line cards and/or terminal equipment
  • Available to travel no more than once per quarter to support Asian manufacturing partners
